The standard I'm targeting.
soshanna.com aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the practical accessibility standard for most modern websites. Most pages exceed it; a few areas are still being refined.
What's in place.
- Semantic HTML structure (real headings, lists, links, forms)
- Keyboard-navigable header, dropdowns, and modal dialogs
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Descriptive alt text on content images
- Color contrast that meets AA against the warm palette
- Sticky header that doesn't trap scroll or focus
- Mobile-friendly layouts that work at 320px and up
- Forms with associated labels and ARIA live regions for status messages
Where I know there are gaps.
Honest list of things I haven't fully solved yet:
- Some review and guide images don't yet have descriptive alt text — being added as content is finalized.
- The site hasn't been formally audited by a third-party accessibility specialist.
- Some embedded affiliate links open in a new tab; if you prefer same-tab navigation, you can override with your browser settings.
If you hit a barrier.
If something on this site is hard to use, please tell me. Specific is better than general — a page URL, the device or assistive tech you're using, and what you were trying to do all help. Email me at info@soshanna.com and I'll fix what I can.
